American Government
Instructor: Mr. Ness

"A primary object...should be the education of our youth in the science of government. In the republic, what species of knowledge can be equally important [as knowledge about government]? And what duty more pressing... than ...communicating it to those who are to be the future guardians of the liberties of the country?"
--George Washington.

This course acquaints students with national, state and local government. The philosophical foundation of our system of
government is studied, as well as the Constitution and each branch of the national government. Other topics include political parties and elections, and civil rights and liberties. Students are encouraged to be well-informed on current events and political issues. This course is required for graduation.
